Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Condra Chesnutt age 95, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 27, 2022.
Polly was born in Whitwell, TN, on August 26, 1926 the daughter of the late Bennett and Katherine Condra.
Though born and raised on a farm, Polly was always a city girl at heart. She moved to Chattanooga after graduating from Whitwell High School where she was salutatorian of her senior class. While working at the main office of Gulf Oil Company she met the love of her life the late Edward Doyle (Doodle) Chesnutt to whom she was married to for 48 years.
Polly was a fulltime homemaker. Her home was the place family and friends always wanted to gather. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church where she received the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheri Perry and Judith Chesnutt; granddaughter, Kimberly Tarver (Cory); three great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Lincoln, and Caleb; three brothers, Earl, Don (Ann), and Sammy (Brenda), a cousin, Billie Ball, who was like a sister; brother-in-law, Jack Stone; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Heritage Funeral Home East Chapel, Friday, May 6th, 10:30 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. service time. Interment will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery 2:00 P.M. A reception will follow at New Hope Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CHI Mary Ellen Locher Breast Center or the Glaucoma Foundation.
