Philip Everett Wood, 58, of Cleveland, TN passed away August 8, 2019 at Tristar Centennial Hospital in a Nashville, TN. after a brief battle with cancer.
Born and raised in Charleston, TN., and a longtime resident of Cleveland, TN., Philip was employed with Mars Chocolate for the past 30 years.
He was US Air Force Staff Sgt. for 5 years.
Philip was an avid sports fan, especially the NBA, NFL, NCAA Sports, Olympic Sports and Wimbledon. He was known for his “handsome smile” and loved a good debate on just about any subject. He loved music, great food, and traveling.
He was a longtime member of Green’s Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Charleston, TN.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Wayne Wood; and grandparents, Curtis & Pauline Wood; Allen Ralph Holt & Jimmie Lucille Holt.
Survivors are his wife, Nickecia “Kecia” Wood; children, Philip Durelle ( Hayley) Wood, Chattanooga and Simon Alexis Black ; mother & Step-father, Gwendolyn “Ralphene” & Tolbert “TJ” Davis ; sisters, Sonya Paulette Pugh, Tanya Yvette Wood, all of Cleveland, Cynthia (Antonia) Wood, Chattanooga; brother, Gregory Allen (Tiffany) Wood, Cleveland; grandson, Chance Isiah Wood, Chattanooga; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, August 18th at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Greg Funderburg and the Rev. Dr. Jim Lawson officiating.
