Phillip E. Mudrich, age 77 of Ooltewah, TN passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his
family on Friday, May 20th, 2022 at his home. He was born on May 11, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille D. Mudrich and Alfred C. Mudrich.
Phillip enlisted at age 18 in the U.S. Navy in 1964. He graduated Nuclear Power School where
He operated and maintained U.S. nuclear submarines during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged, he attended Penn State University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973. Phil was employed as an Electrical Engineer for the majority of his career in both commercial and federal enterprises.
Phillip had five cats (Kielo, Ramsey, Izzy, Riley, and Jack-Jack), three dogs (Holly, Mickey, and
Dash), and a bird (Baby Huey, Oliver) that he loved unconditionally throughout his life.
He enjoyed square dancing with his wife Laura, books, Sci-fi movies, Tennis, Softball,
computer games, scuba diving, skydiving, flying airplanes, gardening, hiking, Johnny Cash,
making pancakes on Sunday for his kids, and enjoying life with a unique sense of humor. He will
be truly missed.
Survivors are his wife Laura Mudrich, his three kids Brittany Durichek, Justin Mudrich, and Olivia
Mudrich, and two grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 25, 2022
in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
