Ray Norris Arp, Sr., age 94, born March 13th, 1924, passed peacefully on April 14th, 2018, at home
surrounded by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Henry Arp and Mary Lizzie Arp; brothers, Harold Henry Arp, Roy Gifford Arp, George William Arp, Richard Lebron Arp; sisters, Margaret Hollingsworth, Billie Hall and Mildred Toler.
He was a faithful member of Concord Baptist Church and retired from Combustion Engineering after 42 years
of service as an Electrical Engineer.
He proudly served his Nation during WWII as a Private First Class in the Army. He was stationed on the front lines, where he strung communication lines on poles, all while the enemy shot at him.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lila Lee Arp; son, Ray N. Arp, Jr., (Patricia Mathis Arp), sister, Frances Dunn, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Thursday, April 19 at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Dr. F. Murray Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Sammy Arp, Lamar Arp, Larry Chandler, Clyde Combs, Dennis Van Horn, Joe Galyon.
