Rev. Dr. George Author Morgan, Jr.

Rev. Dr. George A. Morgan, Jr., 72 of Chattanooga, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

He was the son of the late George A. Morgan, Sr. and Edith Hensley Morgan.  Mr. Morgan was a faithful member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly.  He was ordained as a Bishop in 1967 and received his Doctrine of Theology in 2011.  Mr. Morgan ministered and pastored multiple churches throughout the United States.  He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Alhambra Temple Shriners and the Order of the Eastern Star.  He was a loving husband, father and amazing papaw.

Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Johnson Morgan in 1986 and his second wife, Jennifer McBurnett Morgan in 2019; three grandchildren; brothers, Jimmy and Archie Morgan and two sisters, Mary Jo Hamilton and Christine Morgan.

He is survived by his sons, LaBron (Jamie) Morgan, Jay (Olivia) Morgan, Chad Morgan; daughters, Catrina Morgan, Lindea (BG) Basham, Stephanie (Brandon) Campbell; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Donna (Charlie) Long and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, June 9, at the Church of God of the Union Assembly, 1014 Spring Creek Road, East Ridge, TN 37412, with Reverends Gene Marie, Pratt Hughes and Kaylon Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, GA.
