Rev. Robert L. (Bob) Patty, 78, of Chattanooga passed away on Saturday, October 2nd, 2021.
He was born in Chattanooga, to the late Carl A. and Mary (McCalla) Patty, preceded in death by his brother, Thomas E. Patty. He received his bachelor’s degree from UTC in accounting and graduated in 1980 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. His life was a great testimony of faith, pastoring 38 years at multiple churches in Mississippi, Georgia and Tennessee. He had a great passion for missions and traveled many times to Romania and Jamaica, helping with translation of the gospel for the Romanian people he so dearly loved. He loved his wife of 57 years and family and let them know that every day. His heart’s desire was for all to know the Lord and so frequently asked all he spoke to “Has anyone told you Jesus loves you?”
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn E. Hall Patty; his children, Tim (Darla) Patty, Steve (Carisa) Patty, Chris (Kenneth) Thomas, and Paul (Cathy) Patty; his half-sister, Phyllis Smith; and his grandchildren, Lauren (Jarrad) Peace, Justin (Amanda) Patty, Jordan (Savannah) Patty, Cole (Katie) Patty, Lindsay Patty, Hampton Patty, Hunter and Mattie Thomas, Jake and Conner Patty, with seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, October 6th, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnny Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Justin Patty, Jordan Patty, Jarrad Peace, Hampton Patty, Cole Patty, Hunter Thomas, Jake Patty, and Conner Patty serving as pallbearers for their grandfather.
The family will receive friends and family Tuesday, 4-8 PM, and preceding the service on Wednesday from 11- 1 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Rd.
