Robbie Faye (Keith) Whaley

Robbie “Faye” Whaley, age 90, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022. 

Faye was born in Cleveland, TN, on December 16, 1931, to the late Claude Keith and Verta Million Keith. She often spoke of her memories growing up on the family farm as the oldest of eight siblings, three of whom survive her: Nancy Roberts (Daniel), Glenn Keith (Carol) and Dale Keith.

She graduated from Bradley High School in 1950 and married Don Whaley in Cleveland in 1951. They moved to Chattanooga a few years later and were married 57 years until his death in 2008.

Faye is survived by her sons Vic Whaley (Joyce) and Mike Whaley (Tina). She has four grandchildren: Reagan Whaley Kitts (Eric), Grant Whaley, John Whaley and Eva Whaley, and three great-grandchildren.

She was an active member of Brainerd Hills Baptist Church for 53 years, and served as a Red Cross volunteer at North Park hospital for several years. 

Faye was a talented seamstress, who left her family a collection of her hand-made quilts. She was an excellent cook, the kind whose recipes include “a little” of this and that. She always went out of her way to set a beautiful table for family meals, often with flower arrangements she took time to create. Even in her last days, when she heard that her grandchildren were coming to see her, her first instinct was to think about what she could make to feed them. 

She loved her family and took the time to do things right, setting an example for us all.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 1, 2022 in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Interment with her beloved husband Don will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5-7 PM on Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Rd.
