The family of Robert E Puckett (Bob) sadly announces his passing on Monday, April 26, 2021. He was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church where he was led to the Lord in 1960, served, and held various positions for the next 30+ years.
Robert was born in Tuscaloosa, AL on August 5, 1931. His family moved to Sarasota, FL when he was 8 and he lived there until he joined the service in 1949. He served in the United States Army for 4 years and it was at that time that he met the love of his life when he went on leave with a buddy to Salisbury, NC. He married Joan Carlan Puckett and they lived in Salisbury where he began his career as a machinist with Southern Railway. Later Bob moved with the railroad to Chattanooga. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 35 years.
Bob was a member of Alhambra Shrine and the Brainerd Masonic Lodge #736 where he dedicated many hours of his time to teach others their masonic work and degree. He enjoyed retirement and was happy to sit and watch his hummingbirds and whistle songs throughout the day but only after he read the obituaries to “see if he was in them”. He was a rock to his family and instilled in them a love for family.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Joan Carlan Puckett, his parents Willis and Lavada Puckett and his two brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his children Robert (Bobby) E. Puckett, Jr., Richard Dwayne Puckett, Cindy (Michael) Ford, Missy Puckett; grandchildren, Nicky (Kristie) Puckett, Max Archey, Bailey (Jay) Westfelt, Jake Archey, and Will Ford; and four great grandchildren.
