Roseann Teresa (Halliwell) Hutchings

Roseann T. Hutchings, 69, of Ooltewah passed away on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018, at Erlanger Baroness Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the company of her devoted husband Mark and her brother Leigh.

She was born on September 30, 1949 to the late John McGowan and Charlotte Jane (Foote) Halliwell in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Upper St. Clair High School, she attended Iowa State University, where she met her husband, Mark, who would become a U.S. Air Force pilot. Roseann and Mark were married on December 22, 1969 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and would eventually have two children.

After following her husband to pilot training, Roseann graduated from Arizona State University in 1971 with degrees in English literature and secondary education. She taught English for several years before returning to school to pursue a degree in nursing, which she received from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware in 1981. Roseann became a registered nurse and would later return to Wesley College to teach nursing to other students. She worked in numerous hospitals before eventually finding a passion for home hospice nursing. She found her greatest professional calling and satisfaction in providing care and compassion for the terminally ill and their families.

Roseann is survived by her loving husband of over 48 years, Mark; son, Brian (Christina Madden); daughter, Meredith; grandchildren, Jack, William, Charles and Catherine Hutchings; brothers, Paul (Sue) Halliwell and Leigh (Kim) Halliwell; and sister, Mary Lou (Gerald) Ashton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, November 28 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Ledford and Pastor Sterling Jetton officiating. A graveside service at Chattanooga National Cemetery will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, November 29.
