Roselynne Eleanor Moore Soltau passed quietly into the presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on August 9, 2019 surrounded by her husband and her three children.
She was born March 1, 1926 to Olive and Fred Moore in Owosso, Michigan where she spent her early years. Later she attended Wheaton College where she met her future husband, Addison Soltau of Memphis, TN.
They were married August 24, 1949 and moved to Wilmington, Delaware for three years of theological studies. Their first and only daughter Marilyn Sue was born during these years. Believing God had called them to minister overseas they were appointed by the Independent Board for Presbyterian Foreign Missions and arrived in Yokohama, Japan May 1,1953.
Over the course of their seventeen years in Japan, Roselynne gave birth to their two sons, Theodore Scott and John Sanders.
The family moved to St. Louis. Missouri for graduate study and from there to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she became involved with Bible Study Fellowship and its serious approach to the study of God's Word. Next came a move back to St. Louis and Covenant Theological Seminary where she was to conceive and implement a significant family ministry to seminarian wives, helping them and their families during their busy years of graduate study.
The next move was to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1989 to become editor of Bible study material published by Baker Book House and circulated among churches around the US. She used these studies in women's Bible study groups later to begin a Bible study at John Knox Retirement Center nurturing resident women and helping them grow in Jesus Christ through the study of His Word.
Twenty-eight full and rewarding years were concluded in Florida when she and her husband retired at the close of 2016 after sixty-four years in Christian ministry, in which she was always involved in a variety of her own ministries, a mentor to her children and especially as her husband's prayer partner. Roselynne was a wise advisor and close companion.
Lookout Mountain, Tennessee became her final residence where she left a legacy as a wise, gentle, Christ-like, Christian lady to her family and friends.
Roselynne is survived by her husband of 70 years, Addison; three children and their respective spouse, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, her older brother, Carl Moore, and a number of nieces and nephews.
