Roy Thomas Jones, 80, East Brainerd went home to be with the Lord December 4th, 2019.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio, Roy has been a resident of Chattanooga since 1975; retiring from Coca-Cola after 28 years of service.
Roy moved to Chattanooga in 1975 to attend Tennessee Temple Bible College. Upon moving to Chattanooga, Roy and his family were active members of Unity Baptist Church for many years. Several years later they became actively involved at Maranatha Baptist Church. At the time of his death he was an active member of GraceWorks Church.
Roy was a veteran of the US Navy.
He was an avid bird watcher and during the last 8 weeks of his life, he was able to watch his bird feeders from his bed everyday.
Roy loved to read and in fact could actually finish a book sometimes by the end of the day. He never grew tired of learning about new adventures in life.
He always enjoyed getting visits from his family, neighbors, friends, and his church family. During the last 8 weeks Roy knew his journey in this life was coming to an end but he wasn’t afraid, in fact he had perfect peace and joy about meeting His Lord and Savior.
Roy loved his family more than anything else and especially his grandchildren. He will be forever loved and remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to everyone that knew him.
Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Pat Jones; two daughters, Kim Jones and Shari (Paul) Beam, all of Chattanooga; son, Charles (Brenda) Jones, Mableton, Ga; sister, MaryAnn Sautter; brother, Robert (Joey) Jones, all of Mansfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jeremy Hoyt (Sarah) Covington, Shelby Beam, and Zachary Beam; great-granddaughter, Olivia Grace Covington.
A Service of Celebration will be held Monday, December 9th at 1 pm in the chapel with Dr. Bill Owens and Rev. Tony Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
