Shirley Jean Liverman

April 30, 2022

Tribute

Shirley A. Liverman left the shackles of her earthly body to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on her 86th birthday.

Shirley was born in the tobacco fields area of Eastern NC to David and Iva.  As firstborn child she began to develop her caring skills and take charge attitude that would serve her so well in life.

In 1963, she met and later married the love of her life William "Bill" Liverman. They spent 57 years of happiness together, in good times and bad. They were blessed with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They enjoyed traveling and seeing all 48 contiguous states together with Canada and Northern Mexico. Anywhere they could drive they went. There were times they travelled separately, but always looked forward to being reunited as they never felt complete unless they were together. They were faithful members of Tyner United Methodist Church, where they loved worshipping and fellowshipping with their church family.

Shirley's most joyous time was spent with family and friends. From the softball fields to the yearly holiday traditions, from the countless reunions to the family favorite beach trip to Carolina Beach. She made sure that she took the time to visit with all of her family friends as part of her trip.

She worked several jobs over the years, while also being the chief cook, cleaner, social planner, wardrobe consultant, and counselor. In her later years, her family witnessed her courageous battles with breast cancer, strokes, and Alzheimer's disease which was her greatest challenge. She fought like a warrior and constantly surprised them with her toughness, resilience, and grace in an unwinnable fight.  Her most cherished job was being a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her unconditional love will be missed most by her son Rick Randolph, his daughter Rebecca (Kevin) James and their children Noah, Tate, and Presley, her daughter Karen (Howard)Seitz and their son, Cannon, her daughter Sheree(Aaron)Leatherman and their children Will and Juliana. She was preceded in death by her doting parents, David and Iva, her loving husband, William "Bill" Liverman, her precious sisters Doris (Robert)Johnson and Bonny(Tony)Massengill and is survived by beloved sisters Janice(Kenneth)Hall and Jackie(Laverne)Matthews. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who she considered extended family. The folks who knew her best will miss her the most, though Shirley never in fact met a stranger.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Cheryl Baveghems, without whom we never could have faced so great a challenge. Her devotion to our mother was the embodiment of Christian love. We would also like to thank Hearth Hospice, especially Nurse Sherry Bean, and CNA Avis King whose help and support were invaluable. We love each one of you and you will always hold a special place in our hearts.

In lieu of a memorial service, the family would ask that you take time to spend with loved ones since that would be what would have pleased her most.
