Shirley Ann (Czerwinski) Schalk

Shirley Ann Schalk, 71, passed away Sunday, January 13, 2019. 

She was born and resided in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until she made Chattanooga home in 1977. 

Shirley was married to the love of her life, Ted, for more than 48 years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Esther Czerwinski, and sister Carol Yarnot. 

Shirley was the beloved wife of Ted Schalk of Harrison; loving mother of Joe (Marya) Schalk;  loving grandmother of Saylor, Jackson, granddog Buddy;  and also remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family, and friends.

Shirley enjoyed life.  She loved traveling, entertaining, swimming, the Green Bay Packers, martinis, and being grandma.  She was a member of the ABWA, Red Hats, and St. Stephen’s Lunch Bunch.  Shirley valiantly battled cancer for over two years, while still smiling and finding joy in life.  

A Celebration of Life Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 7111 Lee Highway, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1101 Kermit Drive, Nashville, TN 37217. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Friday, January 18, 2019 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
