Shirrell Lynn Majors

January 28, 1949 ~ August 27, 2017 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Mr. Shirrell Lynn Majors (aka Squirrel), of Chattanooga, TN died in his home, surrounded by his family on August 27th, 2017. He was 68 years old.  He was preceded in death by his parents Austin and Ressie Majors and Sister Ruth Majors.  Shirrell was born on January 28th, 1949 in Knoxville, TN to Austin and Ressie Majors along with his 4 siblings - Jimmy, Joe, Dana and Ruth.  His early years in the Navy allowed Shirrell to see the world and appreciate home.  His passion for the American Armed Forces and love of his home was evident in his daily life.  Anyone who knew Shirrell knew his passions in life were God, Family, NASCAR, and Tennessee Football.  As Shirrell’s success grew in business so did his giving heart. He gave where he could, he gave to family and strangers alike.  Always making sure no one went without.  He commented several times to his wife, “You can’t take it with you”.  Shirrell’s pool parties were built for family – any occasion or opportunity to start up the grill and throw down the two inch thick steaks were part of his summertime requirements.  Christmas, was, we believe his favorite season.  Watching his grandchildren stack their presents over their heads and then destroying his living room floor with ripped up wrapping paper was the peak of his year.  Shirrell passed away peacefully in his home after a short battle with cancer. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, beloved father and respected business owner.

Shirrell is survived by his wife Helen Majors, his children Anthony Majors, Shelly Dahlhauser and Brian Plemons; and his five grandchildren Emic, Miracle, Emma, Jacob and Grant.

Services will be at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Phelps officiating.  Interment will follow in Chattanooga National Cemetery with Navy Honors with Brian Plemons, Emic Plemons, Brent Thurman, Craig Thurman, Robert Brookshire, Jacob Dahlhauser, John Burkett, and Shawn Cole serving as pallbearers.
