American-009
Welcome to the memorial page for

Stephen Michael DeMoss

March 19, 1986 ~ November 13, 2017 (age 31) 31 Years Old

Stephen Michael DeMoss, age 31, of Murfreesboro, TN passed away in his sleep Monday, November 13, 2017.  Michael was a very enjoyable person to be around.  Stephen, or “DeMo”; as his Army friends knew him, loved life.  He had a great sense of humor, was the life of the party and a very genuine person.  He always left a generous tip when at a restaurant.  He felt compassion for people of all ages.  He was a gifted person who loved games, movies, books, cooking, politics, outdoors, and making other laugh.

His service in Iraq from 2004 – 2008 impacted his life in ways we will never fully understand.  He struggled with great heartache from that season of his life.  Stephen never shared with us his medals and accommodations that he received while in active duty.  We did not find out until after his death that he had earned two Army Commendation Medals, a Combat Action Award, and AAM award while serving as a Specialist 4 in the Bravo Company 501st Military Intelligence Battalion during Iraqi Freedom.  After the war he attended Florida International University earning a BA in political science.  Upon graduation he had several jobs in the United States Treasury Department.

He is survived by his parents, Sharon and Stephen DeMoss, sister, Stacy and her husband Steven Walker, brother, Sean Matthew DeMoss, and best friend/soulmate, Sandra Mantilla.  Relatives, church family, and Army friends will sorely miss our dear Stephen.  2 Corinthians 5:8.

Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P. M., Monday, November 20, 2017 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.  Rev. Randy Nabors will officiate.
