Tony Albert Johnson

Tony A. Johnson, born August 17, 1951, passed away at home August 20, 2019.

Tony graduated from Murray County High School in 1969. He attended West Georgia College, majoring in chemistry, followed by Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in Augusta GA, receiving his BSN in nursing. Tony furthered his education at Erlanger Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia through 1983. For 35 years he practiced in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

Tony loved outdoor activities of all kinds, such as hunting trips out west, going to the beach, sailing and traveling. He was passionate about woodworking and excelled as a machinist.

His business ventures took him into land development, building homes and looking around the corner for the next adventure.

Tony loved a good joke, but for all who knew him, they never let him tell the joke!

He was preceded in death by his parents,  Albert and Claudell Johnson.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Angela Huskey Johnson, his son Christopher Johnson, and by Leah Presley who was thought of as his daughter; his brother and sister in law, David Johnson (Laura Johnson), his sister and brother in law, Judy Madaris (Hymie), Leigh Anne Smith (Stephen) and Tonya Stafford (Mitchell). Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, August 25th at 4 pm.  His friend, Pastor Glenn Marshall, will be officiating.
