Mr. William Lewis “Bill” Brewer, Jr. age 77, of Chattanooga, TN, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
Mr. Brewer was born in Chattanooga, TN, on November 6, 1945, the son of the late William Lewis Brewer, Sr. and Stella Emsley Brewer. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Mr. Brewer retired from City of Chattanooga as manager of the electrical department after thirty-four years of service. He was a member of East Ridge United Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday School Teacher and Youth Director. He loved his family and reading his Bible. Mr. Brewer enjoyed watching his daughter play softball throughout her school years. Also, he enjoyed fishing, grilling, video games, gardening, and sports especially the TN Vols. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Hancock and a brother, Ronnie Brewer.
Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Sharon Brewer; son, Michael Swoveland (Claudia); two daughters, Michele Steves (Chris) and Angela Johnson; eight grandchildren, William Stone Johnson, Sydni Johnson, Shae Johnson, Nathan Steves, Chloe Steves, Jacob Swoveland, Zachary Swoveland, and Alexandra Swoveland; a brother, Bobby Brewer; and special friend and caregiver, Tyler Songer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, October 28, 2023, at noon, Heritage Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Tucker and Rev. Melissa Spears officiating. Interment will be Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at 12:30 P.M., Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 11:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Nick Erwin, Steve Erwin, Seath Young, Patrick Kennon, Charles Hancock, Bradley Higley, and Jeff Owens.
