William (Bill) Hoyt Frazier, Jr., son of the late William H. and Helen Louise Frazier, died peacefully from natural causes on March 6, 2019.  He was surrounded with love by his wife and children.  He was 91.

 

Born on Jan 6, 1928, Bill was raised in Chattanooga and graduated from Central High School in 1946. After graduating, he served in the US Navel forces for two years and remained in the Navel Reserves where he was called to action during the Korean War. He later attended UTC and Chattanooga State Technology Institute. Bill joined DuPont as an Instrumental Technologist. He was a loyal employee serving in both Supervisory and Trainer positions of the Instrumental Technology department during his 43 years with DuPont. He also completed The Dale Carnegie Institute Training program where he won an award for his Presentation Skills.

 

In 1952, Bill married his wife, JoAnn Ervin Frazier, of Lakeview, GA. They settled in Chattanooga and raised 5 children.

 

Bill was an active member of Brainerd Hills Baptist church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served on the Benevolence Committee, and Grounds Keeping Committee.  He was an active member of The Chattanooga East Gideons as well. His love for Christ was demonstrated in his daily life. In his younger years, Bill loved staying active and enjoyed running, bicycling, playing golf and tennis. He volunteered and coached many sports teams for his children. He was blessed with numerous, lifelong friends.

 

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, JoAnn Ervin Frazier; his son, William Stephen Frazier of Aiken, SC (Bambi Frazier); his four daughters, Terri Dunn Stewart of Lookout Mountain (Michael Stewart); Jan Sherbak of Missionary Ridge (Steve Sherbak); Lisa Kyle of Cleveland (Scott Kyle); and Lori Hardy of Brentwood (Steve Hardy). He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Jane Miller; his in-laws, Faye and Tommy Frazier, Wayne and Gail Ervin, Carolyn and Eugene Ervin, Yvonne and Wayne Justice, and Benny Ervin;  12 grandkids, Chris Frazier, Amanda Johns, Tyler Frazier, Conner Frazier, Alex Dunn, Rachel Stevener, Haleigh Bennett, MacKenzie Sisk, Ian Sisk, Kate Burns, William Hardy and Maxwell Hardy; 8 great grand children, Ruthie Stevener, Lottie Stevener, Glory Stevener, Jameson Johns, Isla Johns, Mary Stratton Bennett, Dottie Burns, Loomis Burns as well as many nieces, nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church at 11:30 AM on Monday, March 11, with visitation starting at 10:30 am. The Reverend Richard Mason, and Bill’s nephew, the Reverend  Doug Frazier will be officiating.  Burial will follow at 1 PM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Rob Ervin, Dennis Miller, Tim Miller, Todd Ervin, Jeremy Ervin,  Brent Ervin, Mark Ervin, Mike Ervin, Tim Ervin.

 

Memorial contributions can be made to Brainerd Hills Baptist Church or Wounded Warriors.
