William (Bill) Wayne Mitchell, 88, passed away April 19, 2021.
A resident of Chattanooga and Ringgold since 1975, Mr. Mitchell was retired Terminal Train Master from Norfolk Southern Railroad after over 30 years of service.
He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in the Korean War where he served on the USS Valley Forge. He was a 55 year Mason and attended Whitman Masonic Lodge #106.
Mr. Mitchell was a former member and deacon of First Baptist Church - Hixson and was currently a member of First Baptist Church - Ringgold where he enjoyed singing in the sanctuary choir.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Mitchell.
Survivors are his wife, Ellie Corum Mitchell; daughter, Karen (John) Cox, Asheville, NC and son, Russell Wilson (Natalie) Mitchell, Prosper, TX; step-children, Vounett (Jim) Sanders, Collegedale, Scott (Sheri) Corum, Ooltewah, Tera (Greg) Corum, Madaria Beach, FL, and Tracey (Trey) & Kate Corum, Ringgold; 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, and 1 step great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 23rd at 12:30 pm at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Eric Kennedy officiating. Pallbearers will be Scott Corum, Trey Corum, John Cox, John Mitchell Cox, Michael Mitchell, and Greg Hawkins.
