Zora “Zoe” Delene Hudson Thomas, 91, of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at her home.
She was born in Jasper, AL and was #6 of 10 siblings. Her daily chore was milking the cow, before and after school. After graduating from Walker County High School, she furthered her studies in the Secretarial Arts and worked as a secretary at the Walker County Welfare Department and at Red Stone Arsenal.
Delene was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star for 2 years, loved the Home Demonstration Club and cooking. She sewed a lot and did crochet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Cora Hudson; siblings, Hazel Randolph, Jean Davis, Truman Hudson, David Hudson, Craig Hudson, Lynn Hudson, Glenn Hudson.
Delene is survived by her daughter, Beverly Thomas Hamby; granddaughters, Lindsey Hamby (Shane) Howard, Lacey Hamby; great grandsons, Liam Ball and Barrett Howard; sisters, Elsie (Sherman) Cottrell, Peggy Brooks.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM (CST) on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the New Prospect Baptist Church, Jasper, AL. Interment will follow in the New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
