Dorothy Mae (Vess) Petty

Dorothy Petty, 94 of Ooltewah, TN, entered Heaven’s gates on Friday, May 19, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Dovie Vess.  Dorothy had a passion for gardening and canning that has grown and spread throughout the family and community.  She had an unwavering faith for the Lord and her large and loving family. 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Petty; sisters, Ola Lee Bates, Ruby Deadmon, Edna Murry and Mary Lunsford.

Survivors include her children, Marie Neeley, Alvin (Marla) Petty, Evelyn (Donald) Rogers, Mary (Ronald) Sanders, Edward (Brenda) Petty, Melvin (Denise) Petty, Linda (John) Moore, Lynn West, Brenda (Chuck) Doty, Lois (Eli) Pell and Lewis Petty; 32 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Peggy Lunsford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, May 22, in the funeral home chapel with Johnny Howard, Rev. Sam Cravatt and Rev. Ricky Kesley officiating.  Interment will follow in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
