Harriett Ann Carr Creech, 60, of Fayetteville, North Carolina died peacefully on April 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

 

Born July 23, 1956 , she spent much of her life in Chattanooga and North Georgia before moving to Fayetteville, NC almost  20 years ago.

 

She was a 1974 graduate of Lakeview High School and a member of Linden First Baptist Church, Linden, NC.

 

She was a gifted quilter, floral designer and was owner of Sew Grandly Quilted and Sew Grandly Decorated Wreaths in Fayetteville, NC.   In addition to her many achievements, she was also accomplished pianist.

 

She had a heartfelt and sincere ability to exude mountains of grace an charm and demonstrated this ability throughout her life which resulted in long and lasting relationships everywhere her path, travel or those she taught in sewing class and quilt symposiums.  This beautiful, kind and creative woman carried herself with such elegance and show of compassion that always left a lasting impression.  Above all, Harriett was foremost a devoted and loving wife to Laten, and exceptional mother and Mimi.    She embraced these roles passionately and taught others by her action and example. 

 

The family is truly blessed beyond measure to have Laten in our family and to know that he not only cherished her in life but will extend beyond their unwavering love of nearly 27 years together.

 

Harriett was preceded in death by her first husband, Baxter Glenn Shavers (1973-1978);  brother, Donald Carr;  fathers in law, Wilbur Creech and Glenn Shavers;  grandparents, Charles Carr and Dorine Magnuson, Stella Kelly and several aunts and uncles.

 

She is survived by her husband, Laten Creech, Fayetteville, NC;  parents, Charles (Jerry) and LaNell Carr, Ringgold, GA;  children, Jeremy (Jonie) Shavers, Jasper, TN,  Kelly (Tony) Ledford,  Jarrod Smith both of Ft. Oglethorpe, GA., Alan (Lauren ) Creech, Kill Devil Hills, NC and Jeffrey (Julie) Creech, Hillsborough, NC;  many grandchildren;  mothers in law, Delores Creech, Winston-Salem, NC and Helen Shavers, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA;  sisters, Sherry (Gary) Mayo and Deborah Carr Peterson, both of Chattanooga; nieces and nephews.

 

Services will be held Saturday at 2 PM in the chapel  with Rev. Sammy Burgess officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Jeremy Shavers, Jarrod Smith, Corey Shavers, Justin shavers, Kamen Blile and Gavin Cooper serving as pallbearers.
