My thoughts and prayers are with the Hurley family during this time. It saddened me to see of her passing. I have so much respect for her and all her accomplishments but most of all her demeanor, character and sincere love of this community, the residents and the arts. I enjoyed working closely with her during the early times before the Aquarium was completed. If something needed done she figured it out and got it done. She is an extraordinary person, one of a kind and dearly loved. It was my honor to have known her.

One of the most genuine professionals I've ever met. I met Ms. Hurley during the grand opening of the Tennessee Aquarium. She was a joy to meet. May the family be encouraged to know that she is at peace. May God bless you all.

Mai Bell was an inspiration to me. I coordinate our board meetings, and Mai Bell was always dedicated and faithful to attend every meeting we had since she joined in 1978, as long as she was physically able to. She would always exit the elevators with a smile and I just enjoyed seeing her, talking to her and getting to know her.
We may not have been as close as some of her other friends, but she touched my life and I wanted you to know that, and that to me, someone she didn't have to get to know, she did, and I will miss her.
I am praying for the entire family as you go through this time, but I hope that you will find encouragament in knowing that Ms. Mai Bell has to be in Heaven now (with her big heart) looking forward to the day when she will get to see you all again.
With love and prayers,
Kelly

Mai Bell was my great mentor in fundraising when I served as manager of the Symphony and Opera and again in later years when I headed up Allied Arts. I will always remember the time we met to go over donor lists and she insisted that she would call a donor to plead for a contribution when we had already contacted that donor 5 times. She said the sixth time might be the charm, and she was right! Talk about tenacity and skill! I am proud to have known her and grateful for all that she taught me. - Don Andrews

I have worked for Partnership for Families Children and Adults, since it was Community Services Of Greater Chattanooga. I remember Mai Bell well and she always tried to make sure the agency had the best programs for the community. She was one amazing lady and will be greatly missed. She would want you to celebrate her life.

It's hard to find words that will comfort the souls for the family. I knew Mae Bell through her late husband B.T. Hurley. I sang with him in the Chancel Choir at First-Centenary United Methodist Church many years ago. It was a shock to here of Mae Bell's passing and I will sadly miss her. She was very uplifting and a very fun to be around!
