Richard M. Newell

Richard M. Newell, 78, of Hixson, passed away January 20, 2018.

He was born on March 13, 1939, a graduate of Rhea Central High School and a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving 1958-1960 stationed in Germany.

Richard was a member First United Methodist Church of Dayton, TN.

He retired from Cargill Industries after working in the transportation industry for more than 40 Years.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Myrtle Green Newell and also his siblings.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patty; one daughter, Elizabeth Newell Barber (John); grandchildren, Lauren M. and Andrew L. Barber, all of Chattanooga.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 12:30 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Dr. John Barber officiating.

Interment and military honors to follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
