William Melvin Johnston

William Melvin Johnston, 68, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning on August 13, 2017 after a long battle of illness.

William was born on January 2, 1949 to the late William and Bernice Johnston. He graduated from Tyner High School in 1967, was a truck driver for Dixie Yarns for several years. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Apison, the Masonic Lodge, and the Alhambra Shrine. He loved to watch racing every Sunday, and loved farming.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Cathy McNabb.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Riddle Johnston, daughters, Lisa and Cheryl Johnston, sisters, Joyce Gresham, Imogene Stone, Freida Riddle, grandchildren, Maci and Amber Ellis, Carter Scholtz, and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 16, at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Fletcher Farris officiating. Burial will follow at Plowman Cemetery with Pastor Bob Wilerson officiating.
